The most-covered topics
The original “most viewed” ranking is gone. What survives in public sources is the list of topics the series covered — here they are, each with a fresh, sourced guide.
Archive note: this address was the “most viewed” listing of the Look Good in Pictures web series (2008–2009). The ranking itself is not preserved in any source we could open, so this page does not guess at it. This site is independent and not affiliated with Nikon or Carson Kressley.
Topics the series is documented to have covered
Nikon’s October 2008 launch release and its February 2009 release about the 30th episode list the settings and subjects the series addressed. The table maps each to where this site covers it now.
| Topic (as listed in Nikon’s releases) | Where it’s covered here |
|---|---|
| Posing | How to pose for photos |
| Using the flash | Nights out, parties and flash |
| Vacations and holidays | Vacation and holiday photos |
| Nights out | Nights out, parties and flash |
| Weddings | Group photo tips |
| Online profiles | Headshot checklist |
| The red carpet | How to pose for photos |
| Political photos (“Secrets from the Campaign Trail”) | Looking “presidential” in photos |
| Babies and pregnancy photos | Not covered yet |
| Choosing a camera for an occasion | Not covered — this site doesn’t review or sell gear |
The seven tips on record
Nikon’s February 2009 release listed seven tips credited to Carson Kressley. In paraphrase, with notes on what other sources add:
| # | The tip, paraphrased | What other sources add |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hands on hips or held slightly away from the body, leaving space between arms and torso | Nikon’s portrait guide also recommends angling the body about 45 degrees |
| 2 | Dress up; dark clothing is slimming; add color near the face | Career offices recommend solid medium-to-deep colors and warn against solid black alone |
| 3 | Camera slightly above eye level; tilt the head down and to the side to reduce a double chin | Close-up wide-angle shots also distort faces — step back and zoom in |
| 4 | Find your best side from photos you like, and use it | — |
| 5 | Practice by copying a favorite photo in front of a mirror | — |
| 6 | Giggle out loud before the shot for a natural laugh | A smile that reaches the eyes involves the muscle that crinkles their corners |
| 7 | Have fun and act like you want the picture taken | — |
A one-page version of the most useful advice across all topics is on the quick-reference card.
Who appeared, according to the record
The February 2009 release names the photographers who contributed: Steve Simon (portrait), Carrie Sandoval (baby), Lester Cohen (celebrity), Susan Stripling (wedding) and John Harrington (political), with Becky Smith directing. The series’ 30th episode, “Carson’s Time Square Clinic,” had Kressley and Simon coaching passersby. An October 22, 2008 release described an episode with posing advice drawn from red-carpet style experts, and “Ask Carson,” where visitors could send in questions.
Why the old ranking can’t be rebuilt
View counts were held by the original site and are not quoted in the press releases or news items we could find. Rather than invent an order, this page sticks to what is documented and points each topic to a guide that stands on its own sources. The full context is on the episode archive page.
